National Family Health History Day

National Family Health History image

Did you know that next Thursday is Thanksgiving and National Family Health History Day? National Family Health History Day started in 2004 under the Surgeon General to encourage families to have important conversations around health and wellbeing. The most common conditions that run in families are heart disease, diabetes, and cancer (including colon, stomach, endometrium, lung, bladder, breast, and skin), as well as high blood pressure. Sharing if these conditions run in the family, symptoms that are experienced, and when diagnosis occurred can help improve health outcomes. Don’t wait until it’s too late; make a plan to have these conversations during Thanksgiving and ongoing.
