Its OCD Awareness Week! #OCDWeek began in 2009 to share knowledge and reduce stigma around OCD and related disorders. Each year in October, community groups, service organizations, and clinics around the world celebrate with OCD-inspired educational talks, art exhibits, grassroots fundraisers, and more. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America: – OCD affects 2.5 million adults or 1.2% of the U.S. population. – Women are 3x more likely to be affected than men. – The average age of onset is 19, with 25% of cases occurring by age 14. One-third of affected adults first experienced symptoms in childhood.
